The prototype Celeste 34 Sport is soon ready to sail.
This is the first sailboat resulting from a collaboration between Heyman Yachts, Chalmers University of Technology and SSPA (the test tank facility in Gothenburg). The research has evaluated which kind of hull shapes are the fastest, in both still water and waves.
The prototype is built to very exacting standards by Johan Berggren and his crew on Tjörn, the island just south of Orust. Quite a few people have been following the process but we have not had much time to post information on the design, or the building process. One article was published at ‘Blur’, one of the best sources for those devoted to yacht racing.
This is one of the most radical designs we have ever produced; the prototype will be test sailed in summer 2019.
First presentation of the project will be at the Boat Show in Stockholm (1-10 March 2019), see link
