This little ship, called Smulan, ‘The Crum’, is the brainchild and design work of brilliant graphics designer Michael Rasmussen. She is an exceedingly competent boat, conceived as a pleasure boat, a liveaboard and an expedition yacht, all combined in the form of a small ship with a unique attitude. She was built in aluminium to, close to, military standards under the supervision of her owner.
We were proud to be part of the design, delivering the hull lines, hydrostatics and with a detour into the packing and general layout of the ship. She has a twin engine arrangement with straight shafts, both propellers protected by big skegs which offer two additional benefits: They give a good roll damping and directional stability, and they will allow the ship to dry out in tidal harbours.
